9/6/2012: "Wenn wir beginnen würden, möchten die Probleme lösen, die mit der Finanzpolitik über die komfortabler bedeutet der Geldpolitik .. dann hätten wir ein Problem," sagt Herr Schaeble. ("If we were to begin to want to solve the problems of fiscal policy via the more comfortable means of monetary policy ... then we would have a problem," said Mr. Schaeuble) |
Eric, National League of Taxpayers President Gary Paumen requested I follow up with you right away. While many of my colleagues in Congress continue to vote for more spending and tax increases, our national debt is ballooning well past $17 trillion. I applaud National League of Taxpayers members for their petitions and phone calls thus far in support of the Balanced Budget Amendment, S.J. Res. 7 and H.J. Res. 5. But now, you and other American taxpayers must take it to the next level. The federal government spends nearly $10 billion EVERY DAY while our country is on the verge of bankruptcy. This Balanced Budget Amendment, supported by NLT members, would FORCE Congress to pass a balanced budget every year and require a two-thirds vote by both houses of Congress to raise taxes. As a taxpayer and voter, it's critical you turn up the heat. That's why it's so important you chip in $10, $25, or whatever you can afford right away to help the National League of Taxpayers reach up to 10 million Americans to build support for a Balanced Budget Amendment. If you've already signed your petition and donated, please forward this on to your friends and family so they can join in to help gather enough co-sponsors to pass a Balanced Budget Amendment. The time to act is now -- our country can't afford to continue on its current course. If you need more information, I've forwarded Gary's email below. In Liberty,
From:Rand Paul [rand.paul@leagueoftaxpayers.com] Dear Eric, During Obama's tenure in office, our national debt has nearly doubled. They've been spending money we don't have for so long, some economists are beginning to question not if the U.S. will ultimately have to declare bankruptcy, but when. Of course, the "solution" to our ongoing fiscal disaster put forward by President Obama is to tax ourselves out of the hole, all the while claiming that there's nothing left to cut. That's why I hope you will sign your petitions for the National League of Taxpayers' Balanced Budget Amendment, Senate Joint Resolution 7 and House Joint Resolution 5, which I'll link to in a moment. This Amendment would not only require a balanced budget, but would require a two-thirds vote by both houses of Congress to raise taxes, thereby making it much more difficult for the politicians to balance the budget by raising your taxes. The fact is, unless you and I force Members of Congress to put their money where their mouth is, the status quo of give-ins and giveaways will continue. That's why I hope you will sign your Balanced Budget Amendment petitions. But honestly after you sign, I hope you will go a step further and make a contribution to help the National League of Taxpayers mobilize a political army in support of the Balanced Budget Amendment. I don't need to tell you powerful players in Washington oppose the Balanced Budget Amendment. That's why it's so important you sign your petitions at once and, if at all possible, chip in a contribution of even just $10 to help the National League of Taxpayers rally the American people.
The NLT-supported Balanced Budget Amendment would take those options off the table and force Congress to start making serious cuts. Kicking the can down the road for future generations to pay for would no longer be an option. But without a strict Balanced Budget Amendment, I fear we'll continue the tax-and-spend cycle. You see, without any cap on government spending, the politicians are always able to invent some "crisis" to demand bigger government and higher spending. That's why I pray you will sign your petitions to your U.S. Senators and Congressman, urging them to cosponsor this Balanced Budget Amendment. And in addition to that, I hope you will help my friends at the National League of Taxpayers with a special contribution. The fact is, even though many Americans who receive this letter will sign the petition, many won't be able to contribute. If you can only chip in $10, it will be a big boost. Of course if you can afford to make a larger contribution of $25 or $50 or even more, I hope you will. You should also know that a generous supporter has agreed to match your contribution, dollar-for-dollar, so there isn't a better time to give. Your donations will help the National League of Taxpayers organize:
>Your donation will help the National League of Taxpayers reach up to 10 million Americans and generate a tidal wave of opposition to fiscal irresponsibility while building long-term support for a Balanced Budget Amendment. So after signing your Balanced Budget Amendment petitions, please also help with a contribution. Some people have already given as much as $500. Others have sent $50 or $100, but no matter how much you give, whether it's chipping in with $10 or a larger contribution of $150, I guarantee your contribution is urgently needed and will be deeply appreciated. And don't forget that a generous supporter has agreed to match your contribution, dollar-for-dollar, no matter the amount. With your help, we can impose real limits on politicians that force them to actually cut the waste that is threatening our future. In Liberty, P.S. Our bloated federal budget CAN be balanced once the politicians understand that their political future depends on it.

How USA Residents Are Screwed! |
Why Do We Need Term Limits? John Adams said, “Without [term limits] every man in power becomes a ravenous beast of prey”. That being said, here are some of the reasons we believe our country needs Term Limits.
Term limits for lawmakers: when is enough, enough? [Editor's Note: If you want to get rich, i.e. advance from a low paying government bureaucrat job on the local or state level, THEN GET ELECTED TO THE US CONGRESS (House or Senate). Once you're elected, it's easy to steal from your campaign contributions or the Congressional budget allocated to your seat and staff. You can go on a government-funded junket with 'lavishly' paid expenses. The list of ways to steal from the government while in office is inexhaustible. There are only a few Congressmen who left Congress just wealthy instead of a multi-millionaire. Of course, there are several who arrived in Congress as multi-millionaires and don't need to steal from the government.] |
