Dear Eric, We knew from the start that ObamaCare was going to be a massive job killer, just as we knew its supporters would do their best to hide the truth. But I don’t know if anyone predicted that they would expect us to be grateful about it. The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office has reported that ObamaCare’s insurance subsidies will have an astounding impact on the economy. ObamaCare only retains a semblance of “affordability” if you qualify for the taxpayer-funded subsidies. But make a few dollars more, and your premiums shoot through the roof. The Congressional Budget Office predicts that, in order to keep their new subsidies, so many people will decline to work more hours or seek better jobs that the economy will lose the equivalent of 2.5 million full-time jobs in the next ten years. Of course, discouraging people from economic advancement is the opposite of what ObamaCare’s supporters promised us. But when faced with the numbers, they’ve just switched to a new spin. They’re actually taking credit for the job loss, claiming it’s good because it “frees” them from so-called “job lock” -- at taxpayers’ expense. They’re openly celebrating the prospect of addicting more and more people to the public dole. But the fact is, losing so many jobs means fewer goods are produced and services are provided, which hurts the economy no matter if it’s the bosses or the workers who make the call. Either way, that’s 2.5 million people’s worth of economic activity that simply won’t happen. And the more the economy worsens, the more people ObamaCare ensnares in government dependence, the higher its costs will keep climbing. This cycle desperately needs to be broken before it’s too late. Sincerely,
P.S. Barack Obama, Harry Reid and their big-government allies are doing everything they can to spend our nation into oblivion. To fight back, your National League of Taxpayers relies completely on the support of concerned Americans like you. And even $5 or $10 can go a long way. If you are able, please click here to chip in with $10 or $15 to enable your National League of Taxpayers to mobilize more members and hold the politicians accountable. Every dollar is appreciated. FROM Project to RESTORE AMERICAThe FairTax is a consumption tax unilaterally applied to all Americans at the same rate. For businesses, payroll taxes would no longer exist. Our exports would include a heavy tax for overseas buyers purchasing our products, while our imports would be cheaper for us to purchase. I'm not sure how this would affect GDP, as more information is necessary. According to the FairTax website, "Under the FairTax, every person living in the United States pays a sales tax on purchases of new goods and services, excluding necessities due to the prebate." The prebate gives every legal resident household an "advance refund" at the beginning of each month so that purchases made up to the poverty level are tax-free. So a family of four making something like $50,000/year should not have to pay taxes, thus preventing an unfair burden on low-income families. Since the FairTax eliminates both federal and payroll taxes, you get to keep your gross pay amount of each paycheck earned. |
